ending

an unnecessary turn of the knife
i turn the tip of my pen with a spin
i’m not sorry it offends
i won’t pretend that this story
could’ve had another ending
Ending.
we won’t see things as they are
so we wished for more time
as they’re ending.
we expected life would last
for what felt like a lifetime
and it doesn’t, but it does
in the way that so many
past lives have passed
for this right here to be the last
‘cause you see things are always
ending, but
what lies beyond the end?
